How MBA rankings work
Major publishers survey schools, alumni and sometimes employers, then weight factors such as salary increase, career progression, diversity, international mobility and research. Each publisher publishes its methodology — read it. Common issues:
- Salary-based measures favour programmes whose graduates work in high-pay sectors and countries.
- Many rankings cover only full-time programmes; online and executive MBAs have separate lists.
- Schools that don't take part are absent, not "worse".
- Year-to-year movement is often small and noisy.
